CAL FIRE Lifts Evacuation Areas for West Fire
CAL FIRE San Diego announced that some areas previously under evacuation order for the West fire are now open to residents only:
- South of Alpine Boulevard between Peutz Valley Road and South Grade Road
- West of South Grade Road between Alpine Boulevard and Via Viejas Oeste
- West of Via Vejas Oeste between South Grade Road and Via Asoleado
- West of Via Asoleado between Via Viejas Oeste and Japatul Road
The above areas are now under evacuation warning. All other evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect.
An evacuation warning is meant to alert people in an affected area of a potential threat to life and property and is meant to prepare people for a potential evacuation order. An evacuation order requires the immediate movement of people out of an affected area.
Residents going back into fire impacted areas should remain vigilant as the West fire is still an active incident. The Alpine area is still at elevated fire risk due to hot spots, strong winds, and high temperatures.
CAL FIRE is reminding residents entering the area to be aware that hazardous conditions may exist, particularly if a residence or building has burned. If there are electrical wires on the ground or other utility damage, contact SDG&E. Please drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel and utility companies in the area.
