The Sheriff’s Department advises that San Marcos residents who live in the Del Dios Corridor and Mt. Israel areas may return to their homes. The clearance came from the North County Fire Protection District.
The areas includes about 1,600 residents. Since the Cocos fire broke out in the San Marcos area Wednesday, May 14, the Sheriff’s Department has issued almost 76,000 AlertSanDiego evacuation notices via phone, text or email.
Those who are still under evacuation as a result of the Cocos Fire can go to the shelter at Mission Hills High School at 1 Mission Hills Court in San Marcos.
