Ramona High School Shelter Open to Terrace Estate Residents

The American Red Cross has established a shelter at Ramona High School for residents of a Ramona mobile home park expected to be without heat overnight after an underground gas leak was discovered Friday afternoon. The shelter is at 1401 Hanson Lane.

A little after 1:30 p.m. Friday, County HazMat and CAL FIRE  responded to the Ramona Terrace Estates at 1212 H Street Ramona, where a 30,000 gallon propane tank was leaking underground. Nine residents in the area were immediately evacuated, CAL FIRE said. The gas leak was stopped, and no one was injured and no property damaged. About 220 residents in the park are expected to be without gas for at least the next 24 hours, and the shelter has been established because of cold temperatures expected overnight.

For more information, residents should call 211.
