Old Fire Forces Evacuations

A fire in the East County has forced a number of evacuations.  The Old Fire is located on Old Highway 80 at Ribbonwood.  Cal Fire reports the fire is currently 200 acres with a rapid rate of spread. One structure is confirmed destroyed and it is threatening 150 homes.  Several roads are closed in the area: Old 80 Hwy at La Posta Rd., Old Hwy 80 at Ribbonwood, Hwy 94 at Church Rd, and Old Hwy 80 two miles east of Golden Acorn Casino. 

The Sheriff sent 25 Reverse 911 messages to contacts on the Campo Indian Reservation followed by another 46 calls for evacuation to contact numbers in the community of Live Oak Springs as a result of this fire. Golden Acorn Casino is the temporary evacuation point.
