Reverse 911/AlertSanDiego contacted residents in Chihuahua Valley at 10 p.m. to tell them sheriff's deputies would be conducting evacuations due to the Chihuahua Fire in the area. The message said:

This is the San Diego Sheriff's Department on August 9th 2012 10pm. Due to wildfires continuing to burn in the Chihuahua Valley area, the Sheriff's Department is preparing to conduct evacuations in the fire area. Residents need to be prepared to evacuate when called upon by deputies to do so. When evacuations occur, residents will be able to evacuate to Warner Springs High School at 30951 State Route 79. Large animals will be able to evacuate to Love Acre Ranch at 35490 State Route 79. All residents are asked to remain aware of their surroundings and to stay tuned to local radio and television stations for updates.
