Chariot Fire Update 1

The Chariot Fire is now burning toward the south and fire evacuations have increased to include another 115 residences and 60 businesses.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department sent out an emergency alert call shortly after 2 p.m. It stated:

"This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with an emergency message and evacuation information on July 8, 2013 at 2:05 p.m. There is a wildfire burning in the Mt. Laguna area. The wind is blowing the fire towards the Laguna Townsite and there is a concern that the fire may spread to your area. You are being directed to evacuate due to the fire. Citizens are encouraged to evacuate to 2001 Tavern Rd. in Alpine at Joan MacQueen Middle School. If you need emergency assistance, call 9-1-1. For updated information, call 2-1-1."

Additionally, County Animal Services has established two shelters for animals:

1. The International Equestrian Center is open for people to bring their own pets AND STAY. Pets CANNOT be dropped off. The address is 16911 Gunn Stage Road in Ramona.

2. Please contact Animal Services at (619) 236-2341 if you believe your animal was evacuated.
