Bernardo Fire New Shelter Opening

The American Red Cross will be closing the temporary evacuation point at Torrey Pines High School around 7 p.m. and is opening a shelter at Rancho Bernardo High School, 13010 Paseo Lucido.

The Bernardo Fire is now at 800 acres and is 5 percent contained as of 6 p.m., according to CAL FIRE, which is part of a unified command that includes San Diego Fire Rescue and Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department.

The communities that have been evacuated include parts of Torrey Highlands, Rancho Penasquitos, Black Mountain Ranch, Santa Luz Fairbanks Ranch and the outer portions of Rancho Santa Fe and Camino Del Sur.
