Additional AlertSanDiego calls made in Cocos Fire

The San Diego Sheriff?s Department has issued additional evacuation orders because of the Cocos Fire burning in Harmony Grove and Del Dios Area. The calls went to 5,400 contacts, including homes, businesses and cell phones, a little after 3 p.m. The notification followed earlier nearby evacuations by the Sheriff and Escondido police. Residents can evacuate to Mission Hills High School at 1 Mission Hills Ct or Escondido High School at 1535 North Broadway. Residents with pets can go to Escondido High, and County Animal Services is sending support to the shelter.

Caltrans says off-ramps from eastbound Highway 78 are closed at San Marcos Blvd., Twin Oaks Valley Road., Barham Drive and Nordahl Road because of the fire.
